Soft and Chewy Vanilla Sugar Cookies
Perfect vanilla cookies to enjoy with milk, frosting or just on their own. They melt in your mouth and make you crave more.
Vanilla Sugar Cookies
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 large egg, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
In a medium bowl cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract, mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl mix together flour and baking soda. Slowly start adding flour mixture to the eggs in several batches mixing until combined after each addition.
Cover the bowl with the dough with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge to cool for at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 350F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper, set aside.
Take out the chilled dough and roll it out with a rolling-pin on the lightly floured working area. Cut cookies in your favorite shapes depending what cookie cutters you have or want to use. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets placing them about 1 inch apart or so.
Bake cookies at 350F. If you like your cookies more soft and chewy bake for about 8 to 10 minutes. Or if you like your cookies more crisp and buttery, then bake them for 10 to 12 minutes.
Cool cookies on the wire rack before serving. They are great both warm and cold. And if you like frosting on your cookies they will go perfect with it or with some sugar icing, just cool cookies completely before frosting them.
