Taco Pasta Bake

Taco Pasta Bake

4 cups cooked pasta (we used Barilla Campanelle)

1 pound extra lean ground beef

1 jar Ragu Homemade Style Pizza sauce

2 cups shredded Taco Style Cheese

1/2 cup water

1 tablespoon Canola oil

1/2 teaspoon dry parsley flakes

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon paprika

Dash or two chili pepper powder

Dash or two cayenne pepper powder

Dash or two of pepper

Salt to taste

Canola cooking spray

Cook pasta according to the box. When done drain and set aside.

In a large skillet heat canola oil over medium/high heat. Add in beef and lower the hear to medium.  Use a stiff spatula to break the ground meat into several pieces. Continue breaking the meat into smaller and smaller pieces. Add in salt and other spices (parsley flakes, garlic, paprika, chili, cayenne and pepper). Stir the beef occasionally to make sure it’s browning evenly. The beef has finished when it is evenly browned and shows no signs of pink. At this time add in the entire jar of sauce and 1/2 cup of water. Mix and simmer until everything is heated evenly and sauce has become somewhat thick. When done remove from the heat.

Preheat oven to 375 F. In a large bowl combine the sauce with cooked pasta. Mix well.

Take a medium size casserole baking dish and spray it with cooking spray. Add in half of the pasta and sauce mixture and put it into the baking dish. Sprinkle it with half of the cheese. Add the remaining pasta and sauce and top it with the remaining cheese. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or until cheese is all bubbly and melted on the top. Serve right away alone or with a salad.

This recipe makes about 8 servings.
