Yummy Homemade Mayonnaise Recipe
Have you ever tried making your own mayonnaise before?
It’s very easy, you are able to control what goes in and how much you make. Here is a simple recipe we love in our house. It takes about 10 minutes to make. Just imagine, fresh mayo any time you like!
Simple Homemade Mayonnaise Recipe
1 large egg yolk at room temperature
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup olive oil
If you have a food processor this will be easy. If not, it will take you just a bit longer to cream everything with a whisk.
In a medium bowl (or food processor) place egg, mustard, lemon juice and salt. Process or whisk until creamy. Add half of your oil, so 1/2 cup to your egg mixture. Process or whisk until slightly thicker. Add remaining 1/2 cup oil, in batches and continue to process or whisk, until the mayonnaise is thick and creamy.
Store in the refrigerator in a small jar, or plastic container with a tight closing lid. Good to keep for about a week or so, if it lasts you that long!
